Parenting with Insight is a research-based framework, and set of tools that maximizes the power of your influence in your home, in a way that respects the uniqueness of your family and the values your home.
Course 1. Basic Studies
MODULE ONE: FRAMEWORKS MATTER!
The journey of parenting is full of tests one cannot study for and important lessons, some which repeat over and over. There are moments of frustration and despair, hours of worry, the exhaustion, the moments of feeling helpless and confused, and the test of our patience. Parenting is not for the faint of heart and that while some of our greatest heartaches may involve our children and family, so might our greatest joys.
This module is designed to motivate and inspire you to think about your parenting priorities. It is not about giving simply rules or scripts, but about discovering a fuller understanding of what it takes to be a leader in your home and raise children in a complex and complicated world.
MODULE TWO: PROFILES MATTER!
Parents and children alike want to be understood and respected for who they are. When Children are accepted as they have been perfectly designed, and parents work with their “designer genes”, they stay closer to who they are and who they are meant to become. When parents over control, work against their nature or abuse them, their outlook is changed and in some cases obliterated.
In this module, you will be given the tools that support your ability to discover and work with your child’s true nature. By understanding what makes each child tick, you may choose to tailor your parenting to fit the needs, strengths and preferences of each of your children. In doing so, you have given the greatest gift a parent can give — the gift of self-acceptance.
Course 2. Intermediate Studies
MODULE ONE: RELATIONSHIPS MATTER!
Family is not always about blood or the last name you share. Sometimes it’s about who is there to hold your hand and support you when you need them. Family isn’t always the people you have been given in life, they are those who come along out of the blue and made life better. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs, who accept you for who you are and would do anything to see you smile. Children’s lives are shaped by those they love and refuse to love, as well as by those who love them and refuse to love them. Every interaction teaches us something! What are we teaching?
This module examines the impact of your influence and ways to enrich your relationship with your children. You will discover what makes their hearts sing as they travel along the journey of discovering their greatness. Success begins somewhere, at some moment, with somebody. Will it be you?
MODULE TWO: WELLNESS MATTERS!
In the past, childhood was a time in life marked by imagination, make believe, games and hanging out – a time of spontaneity, creativity and curiosity. The word ‘play’ evoked images of the outdoors, dolls and trucks, dress up and hide and seek, or hopscotch and jumping rope. Today, those types of play are not valued. Instead, our children seem to be so plugged into electronics and spend most of their waking hours in structured indoor experiences. It may be time to step back and ask, “What really matters when the goal is to live a life of fulfillment and wellness?”
This module recognizes that every child wants to succeed and all parents want their children to succeed. Together, we will uncover the pathway to your child’s full potential.
Course 3. Advanced Studies
MODULE ONE: SKILLS MATTER!
Childhood represents a special phase in life during which the most actively creative learning takes place. According to Rachel Carson, “If a child is to keep alive his innate wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” Children love to sing, dance, create, imagine and play, and in doing so they learn who they are and what they love to do. They discover effective ways of managing their emotions and actions. And, they master the skills for connecting successfully with others.
This module rediscovers the culture of childhood, and the experiences and emotional and social skills that guide our kids toward lifelong success.
MODULE TWO: DISCIPLINE MATTERS!
Discipline is an art that does not come easily to all parents. While many automatically associate discipline with punishment and believe that children won’t learn unless they are forced to, research has revealed that the fear of punishment is ineffective. Instead, it is recommended to think of discipline as a lifelong process that teaches children to do what is right and best, not only for themselves, but the community as a whole. Discipline is something we do with and for our child, not to our child. All effective approaches begin with adult behavior. What we model and who we are have the most powerful impact on what our children learn. This module examines the building blocks for developing and implementing a firm, but gentle approach to our child’s misbehavior.
